Working Remotely:
How to Stay Connected
and Effective
Overview
Remote workers face a completely different set of challenges than co-located ones. Opportunities for miscommunication abound as well as anxiety about missing out on the natural networking and visibility that come with being in the office. How do you build relationships with peers and coworkers when you’re not there to sign the group birthday cards? Successful remote leaders and workers have learned that building relationships and understanding the styles of those they work with are keys to success.
This workshop is designed to help participants understand the issues associated with working remotely and to provide specific, actionable techniques for being a successful remote team member.
During this workshop participants will learn to:
Take deliberate actions to foster positive relationships and build trust in the remote work environment
Consider the impact of Interaction Styles on remote communication methods such as conference calls and e-mail
Identify their own preferred style and how to maximize communication effectiveness
Recognize the styles of others and use differences to create stronger teams and better collaboration
Recognize sources of miscommunication and reduce conflict to a minimum
Build strong, “conflict-resistant” relationships with remote colleagues and managers of all types and styles
Shift perspectives and learn to communicate in all four Interaction Styles
