If You Can't See Them, How Can You Lead Them?:
Effectively Managing Global and Remote Teams
Overview
The modern workplace has changed dramatically. We can no longer assume that the people we are leading are in our same location or even our same time zone. Today, the workplace could be anywhere -- and it usually is. While technology has enabled us to work remotely, it doesn’t solve all the challenges we face when leading remote individuals and building remote teams. Differences in Interaction Styles tend to be amplified in the remote environment leading to more miscommunications. And , it provides a difficulty in performing the classic management functions of monitoring progress, evaluating performance and providing feedback. In this workshop we will explore the strengths and blind-spots of each Interaction Style in the remote work environment and provide practical, real work solutions to the challenges of leading remotely.
During this workshop participants will learn to:
Consider the impact of Interaction Styles on remote communication methods such as conference calls and e-mail
Understand the implications of giving feedback to remote employees of different styles.
Identify their own preferred style and how to maximize communication effectiveness
Recognize the styles of others and use differences to create stronger teams and better collaboration
Recognize sources of miscommunication and reduce conflict to a minimum
Build strong, “conflict-resistant” relationships with remote direct reports of all types and styles
Shift perspectives and learn to communicate in all 4 Interaction Styles
